A TAG is a teacher-led group where participants can identify and share specific challenges and successes from their classrooms, and work together to share solutions and tips from your own experience.

The role of the facilitator is to facilitate the process of participants’ learning and development so that the group can come up with their own solutions to overcome their challenges. This involves: ● agreeing topics, meeting dates and times with participants ● planning TAG meeting discussions using the given materials and Facilitator Notes ● sharing relevant links, articles and video/audio with participants ● facilitating group decision-making ● encouraging participants to get involved and take part ● guiding participants on how to use their TAG learning journal to reflect on and record their learning ● being supportive and sensitive to individual needs and circumstances ● communicating effectively with participants between meetings ● monitoring the success of your TAG and making changes and improvements in consultation with participants ● informing the relevant person responsible at your regional INSETT institute of possible training needs that are raised by the group. Keep a record of these in Appendix 4. ● adapting and, later on, sourcing your own materials and tasks for meetings ● reflecting on your own professional development skills, needs and progress as a facilitator. A facilitator is also a member of the group, and will take part in all activities along with the other participants, sharing his/her own challenges, experiences and tips.
